The six taxa of genus Impatiens in Korea were investigated by comparative anatomy, and taxonomical status of I. atrosanguinea were reviewed based on the results. They were distinctly divided into two groups by the anatomical characters that revealed in the cross-sections of root, mid vein and blade of leaf, petiole as well as vasculature of leaf and structure of fruit wall and seed-coat. Group Ⅰ composed of I. textori var. koreana, I. aphanantha, I. atrosanguinea, and I. noli-tangere, I. noli-tangere var. pallescens belong to Group Ⅱ. Also, I. atrosanguinea was characterized by having six to seven layered exotesta, four layered elliptical parenchymatous endotesta, two to six layered collenchymatous parenchyma in the inner part of fruit wall, which were not shown in the other taxa of same group. Therefore, it was thought that such characteristics together with many morphological ones supported I. atrosanguinea should be treated as an independent species.
