Six species and two varieties of Korean Eriocaulaceae were distinguished based on a review of morphological characters. Quantitative characters (length and width of leaves, sheaths, involucral bracts, and structures of pistillate and staminate flowers such as bracts, sepals, and petals; height and diameter of head inflorescences; size of seeds; length of involucral bracts, peduncles, stigmas, and styles; number of staminate and pistillate flowers within head inflorescences; number of peduncles, ribs on peduncle, gynoecial glands, stigmas, stamens, and seeds) and qualitative characters (shape, color, and arrangement of leaves, head inflorescences, involucral bracts, receptacles, and structures of pistillate and staminate flowers such as bracts, sepals, and petals; pilosity of flower structure and gynoecial glands) were useful for species identification. This study reveals that Eriocaulon buergerianum Kbernike (new local name: Jang-heung-gae-su-yeom) is newly found in Korea; Eriocaluon sp. (new local name : neolb-eun-kkot-ip-gae-su-yeom), which is considered to be a new species, is described with a key. Finally, character diagrams and the key to the all taxa are provided here. |
