ABSTRACT
C-banded karyotypes of P. infundiflorum (2n=18), P. odoratum var. pluriflorum (2n=20), P. adoratum var. odoratum (2n=20), P. robustum (2n=20) and P. sibiricum (2n=24) were examined by means of the Giemsa techniques. These five taxa had their own characteristic bands, while most of the bands on the somatic metaphase chromosomes were mainly located at the intercalary and terminal region. The proportion of heterochromatic amount per total chromosomal length was 3.7% (P. infundiflorum), 4.0% (P. odoratum var. pluriflorum), 2.2% (P. odoratum var. odoratum), 6.7% (P. robustum) and 4.9% (P. sibiricum) respectively. The numbers of total bands of each taxa were 9, 14, 6, 12, and 14 according to the upper order. Secondary constriction appeared only in three taxa; P. odoratum var. pluriflorum, P. odoratum var. odoratum, and P. robustum. In addition, cytological relationships among five taxa were considered based on C-banded karyotype.
