ABSTRACT
To clarify hypothesized infraspecific boundaries, genetic divergence, and variation among populations of Euphorbia ebracteolata, we examined six populations for 10 isozyme loci and 19 morphological characters. Although the morphological variation do not support the recognition of E. ebracteolata var. coreana, the pattern of isozyme variation strongly support the separation of E. ebracteolata var. coreana from remaining populations of E. ebracteolata. In spite of the limited numbers of the populations, and without a specialized breeding system in Korean E. ebracteolata, the unusually high genetic variation within the species might be related to the refugial scenario for the southwestern Korean peninsula during the Pleistocene glaciations.
